Public Transportation
If you want to visit these spots, we recommend using public transportation. In Budapest, public transportation is really good. We have 4 metro lines, several buses, and trams.
100E bus: it takes you from the city center directly to Budapest Airport. The normal single ticket is not ok for this, you have to buy a special ticket on the bus. The ticket costs 2200 HUF. The bus stop in the city center is Deák Ferenc tér and it takes you to the airport in approx.. 40 mins.
Tram 2: the tramline takes you all along the Danube Embankment in Pest, from the north to the south and then back. You can use it with a simple normal single ticket. This is the tram, which takes you to the famous Central Market Hall (Fővám tér). The tramline was elected to be the 7th nicest tramline in the world by National Geographic.
Tram 4-6: it runs on the Great Ringroad from the Danube to the Danube. It is functioning during the night as well.
You can buy a single ticket or a daily pass in the metro stops from the purple vending machines. You can pay by cash or by card. in the case of the single tickets please do not forget to validate them! If you have a pass, you do not have to validate it, you just need to show it to the controller if he or she asks you!
Budapest is a safe city, but on public transportation please keep an eye on your belongings like everywhere!
